BEDELL VINEYARDS Long Island
The Estate
Bedell Cellars is the premier winery on the North Fork of Long Island and one of the wine world's up-and-coming stars. We are very excited to be the first importer in the UK to offer these award winning wines. With just 32 acres at Bedell and 23 acres at sister vineyard Corey Creek, a combination of the very latest equipment and a wealth of experience, Bedell is without doubt a truly exciting find for us.
Bedell produces award-winning Merlot, Bordeaux-style blends, and a hot new Artist Series with label art commissioned from Eric Fischl and Barbara Kruger. The Corey Creek Vineyards label, also grown and produced by Bedell Cellars, is renowned for a series of small batch varietally labeled wines like Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Franc, and most notably Chardonnay.
The Bedell facility is unmatched regionally for its sophistication. The new state-of-the-art winery was completed in 2005 and boasts custom designed open-top fermenting tanks and a gravity-driven regime to minimize pumping and filtering. The tasting room is housed in a renovated potato barn originally built in 1919..A new outdoor grand tasting pavilion was recently completed, offering visitors a sweeping view of hundreds of acres of vineyards and open farmland.
The People
Bedell's owner, Michael Lynne, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of New Line Cinema and Executive Producer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is raising the bar for quality among Long Island wine estates. Working alongside Bedell's Chief Operating Officer Trent Preszler are founding Winemaker Kip Bedell, Winemaker John Irving Levenberg (who relocated from Paul Hobbs Winery in Napa), and Consulting Oenologist Pascal Marty, formerly of Chateau Mouton Rothschild.

John Irving Levenberg, Winemaker
Heralded as one of the top young winemakers in North America, John Irving Levenberg is a central figure in the continued success of Bedell Cellars. Eric Asimov of The New York Times (June 7, 2006) recently declared, "The Bedell style has evolved, and more recent vintages taste sleek and polished, with well integrated oak and fruit flavors." Prior to being lured to the colder climes of Long Island, John was Associate Winemaker at Paul Hobbs Winery in California, and held cellar positions at Chateau Quinault (St. Emilion, France), Cuvaison (Napa), Clos LaChance (Santa Cruz, CA) and Te Whare Ra (Marlborough, New Zealand). While at Paul Hobbs, over 20 of John's wines earned scores of "95 points" and higher from Robert Parker or Wine Spectator. His 2002 Hobbs Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon received a highly coveted "100 points" from Robert Parker, and his 2002 Hobbs Russian River Chardonnay was named one of the 20 best wines in the world by Wine Spectator. Originally from Los Angeles, John obtained a M.S. in Viticulture & Oenology from UC-Davis. Today, he and his wife call the North Fork of Long Island home.
